about
Lotus is pleased to unveil "Tar Pits" today, their second new single in as many months on AntiFragile. "Tar Pits" is built around a thick, liquid bass line. A percussive modular synth plays counter melody to a Roland Juno-60 analog synth tweaked out with tape delay. The top lines gives way to a drum and percussion lead improvisation that brings a tribal element to the dance groove. Both drummer Mike Greenfield and percussionist Chuck Morris really stand out on this track.
“This track was a lot of fun to record. I love putting classic 80s synths and vintage units like the tape delay we used here into a more modern context. The richness of those sounds make them timeless to my ears” - Jesse Miller
“As the song progresses, different melodies and chord patterns change the color palette. To me it feels like tromping through an ancient forest with giant animals and green foliage all around" - Luke Miller
